Suzy Q

Spaghetti Squash has to be the one thing Scouten has loved the most since we have started solid foods. She literally kicked her feet and screamed for the second bite...and the third...and the seventh, etc.
I mentioned this to my friend who is in the solid-experimental stage with her A-DOR-able son, and she had a million questions...So I will attempt to answer them!

First, we have a spaghetti squash...looks just like this when you get it home from Ray's Applemarket (or whatever store you bought it at - they are plentiful and pretty darn cheap).
First you wash it under the sink...
Then you place it in whatever cooking dish it will fit in
Place it in your pre-heated 375 degree oven
After an hour (or a little over) it will look just a little toasty - like this!
I start cutting at the opposite end of the stem, basically because it doesn't matter what knife I use, I just can't seem to make it through the stem and I have to cut around it...it's not THAT big of deal.

When you hack that beautiful squash open, it should look like the inside of your jack-o-lantern, or if your daddy didn't make jack-o-lanterns with you, it should look like guts with seeds...
Grab a fork or a spoon and scoop the seeds out, don't go too deep or you'll get the good stuff
When you're done with the seeds, it should look like this...
Get a bowl (or your baby food processor cup) and start scraping the squash with a fork, it should look like you are pulling out pieces of spaghetti
When you get finished, it will look like a banana peel only much thinner
This squash filled my baby food processor cup and another container for tomorrow...
I added a couple tablespoons of water, and pureed and when I was finished...it looked just as baby food should...gross! But tasted oh soo yummy!
Just ask my biggest baby-food critique...who completely approved!
