elephant ears

My mother plants elephant ears on her back porch every year. For those of you who are clueless, much like myself, they are a bulb, that you just barely plant in dirt, and they look really cool when they come up. Last year, she gave me one, told me to water the heck out of it, and it rotted. Yep, that's right, ROTTED...

This year I planted one just like she told me, and turns out, it's upside down...but it figured out that I'm a moron and grew AROUND the bulb so I could watch it! I covered it up by planting Bolivian Jew underneath it, and you can't tell the difference.

Anyway, today I was leaving work at just the right time, and a leaf was unfurling. IT was awesome to see, so..of course I took a picture. I know that's a LOT of rambling and nonsense, but HEY! It was cool! And it just proves that mother nature can help you out, even when you plant things upside down! I know I'm a genius, but I think it's something that would have made my grandmother laugh.
