DONE! well....almost.....

I really don't know how or where to start on this one. I have spent the past few weeks working on designing/coding/making up out of thin-air a website. It is NOTHING like blogging and is beyond frustrating and rewarding all at the same time. Here is what I have learned:

1) Web-designers and programmers make big bucks. There is a reason for this. If you think you can do better, just try it. I made a super simple site with the requirements for a class. It's not that creative, and I am still tweaking it. IT TOOK 32 HOURS! That and after I showed it to a co-worker she questioned the identity, and I think I will have to redo the homepage (but I ASKED for the critique and it will make my site better).

1a) Figuring out site identity is difficult stuff - What do you want to accomplish? What does your site say about you? What will other people think of your insane ideas?

2) If your husband is gone for 48 hours you can get more accomplished then if you had a week off, but he was home.

3) I will forever be a lifetime student. I think my mother is crazy, because she is always taking a class. At the same time I now realize it's because she's always challenging herself - and she is the smart, motivated, wonderful, knowledgeable, creative person that she is because she is always looking for a challenge.

4) It's perfectly okay to ask to use a nine-year-old's picture because it fits right in with yours. It's also okay to be jealous of her natural ability to see things you don't.

5) It's also okay to be proud of yourself when you have worked hard. This isn't my ego talking, it's the fact that I got finished, ahead of time! AND yes I asked Sean for help, but on putting the website on the server, not on design, or code, or anything else, cause I worked...and learned it myself! Practical application...that may be a different story...
