Planning Ahead

I never realized that my grandmother was such a planner, until after her death. Sure, I knew she planned her garden, the fruit trees around the edges, the rows and rows of peonies, and the vegetables always in the same places, but I never really knew how FAR she planned ahead, until each of her grandchildren got a memento of her the Christmas after her death. I haven't counted up how many grandchildren she had at that point, but it was closer to 30 then I care to think about.

There really is a point here, I swear. Today, my mother, aunt and I went to a sewing class (quit snickering) and learned to make this fun bag. I giggled to myself the entire time (a) because my mom and aunt can talk more smack then I can and (b) because if Sean knew the class was to make ANOTHER bag, he would have NEVER let me out of the house. Either way here is the finished product.

Yes, I realize it's a little wild and funky, but I really think it would hold anything I could possibly need. The teacher of the class carried her sewing machine out in hers. My aunt Bren said if it were any bigger she would need to go to the chiropractor for a month just to carry it once.

ANYWAY, I was looking for lining and my mom said she would bring some of my grandma's fabric to line the bag with. Keep in mind that my mom did NOT know what fabric I had picked out, but showed up with this fabric. Seriously, what on earth did grandma think she was going to do with this?
Yeah, I am afraid she was going to make a shirt or a pair of pants or something. Here is my bag turned inside out with the above lining. I am so glad my grandma was a planner.

Oh my... At first I thought that was a cami that you were going to wear out this weekend! I wondered how the heck you were going to decide what color of Crocs to wear with it! Whew!

Rhy,
Your bag is sooo neat. Please don't show my girls. They like bags as well as you do.
