Wichita Garden Show

This year for my aunt's birthday, my mother, sister, and aunts went to Omaha to what we have all heard called, "THE Garden Show." I was so jealous, I can't even explain it...When I called my mother to ask her how it went, she howled (yes, literally), "The PLANTS WERE FAKE!" Although they got to shop in some good places, the garden show itself was kind of a flop. So, we went to our semi-traditional show, which is in Wichita. Every time we go, I never can believe all the trees, fountains, waterfalls, and other garden paraphernalia that they build INSIDE the Century II...I know you are thinking, how awesome can it really be?

Lately I have been thinking about "nature vs. nurture", in other words, what parts of me (and Sean) are in our genetics, and what parts are the results of being around our families. Mostly because I'm worried our child will have none of his patience and all of my (lack of) math skills. I think we will both be okay in the "playing in the dirt" part, because we both love to do that! I'm starting to think in my case it's a combination of genetics and attitude. Especially during the garden show when my sis, mom and I went to a lecture on new plants and veggies. When we saw the green houses of the woman giving the lecture, I'm pretty sure there were three squeals of delight. Although it's quite a few miles away, we've already planned our trip to Arnold's.

Since there are 15 greenhouses (including the show-greenhouse that is the size of a football field, with a retractable roof), I've been busy working on my list of things I have to have. I'm thinking that this summer will be busy, so I have been thinking mostly about container gardening. Between that and mowing, I'm not sure much else will get done. Here is one of the things on my list...an herb garden in a container!

We are going April 18th, and I'm counting down the days!!
