One of the things she has learned about is haybale gardening. I know that sounds insane, but other people have done it, and EVEN been successful! Supposedly it's good for people that don't like to weed, bend over a lot, or have a lot of space to garden in (I qualify for ALL those! Yeah!). After some preparation, Sb and I decided to plant yesterday...Here's the haybales, that have been all prepared and have a thin layer of manure, followed by a layer of soil added.
I ALMOST forgot to add, my husband added drip-irrigation for each plant to the mix. Seriously, a drip irrigation system...which just reminds me what a engineering-structural-logical-minded person that I really married. He planted two tomatoes, a cucumber, and a green pepper. Might I add, each with their own drip irrigation.
The green pepper likes it sooo much, it's already producing...either that or we bought it so late in the season that it already had a pepper on it, I can't remember which..hmmmmmm....please also note the flip-flop in the above picture...SB wearing flip-flops is a RARE occasion..he had to buy some in Mexico, because I refused to walk on the beach with a guy in boots...
Our finished product! I guess we will see what happens...if we don't have tomatoes or green peppers to make chimi-changas and salsa about mid-July, we will just go find our local master gardener...I'm SURE she will have some!
