Clay Center made the state and national news last night. I wish it was for something good, but unfortunately it was for a couple tornadoes that passed through Clay County. I was at the radio station, trying to help as best I could. Here are a couple pictures that I snapped during the action.

These pictures are taken from my cell phone, and are just seconds apart. If you use the buildings for reference you can see how fast the storm was moving. Ususally storms move anywhere from 20 to 35 mph...sometimes if you get a real mover it gets up to 50. Last night's SLOWEST storm was 44 and the fastest was 72. Which as I said several times, is basically unreal.

While there is damage throughout the county, no lives were lost, which is the important thing. By total circumstance we had a former sheriff's deputy at the station. He was calm and collected, because he's pretty much seen it all. However when we got the word that a building north of town had the roof taken off, he got a little mad (it wasn't bad, you could just see he was a little upset). I guess the building was full of antique cars, and he was worried about that!
